Despite multiple fighters missing weight, all 14 fights slated for Strike Off 6 are still a go, tonight, October 3rd at the George Mason University EagleBank Arena.
Derrick Weaver, Kevin Schmidt, Cody Gabelman, Jonathan Vinyard, and Steven Adame all came in significantly overweight and had to forfeit a percentage of their purses to their opponents and have to weigh in again today under individually negotiated weight thresholds in order to be allowed to compete.
While main event fighter William Ward came in .8 pounds over the 171 lb. allowance, his opponent, Kris McCray agreed the fight with no other restrictions.
Samir Farid's official weight comes in over by close to two pounds, but he will not face any penalization. From our understanding, Farid was on weight and in light of his opponent, Kevin Schmidt coming in 10 pounds over, the promotion allowed him to start hydrating before his official weigh in, in case they had to move it up to a catch weight fight. After Schmidt was not able to cut any more weight. the fight remained, technically, a Flyweight bout.
