Two Organizations Approved by DPOR to Sanction Amateur MMA in VA

Nothing like the last second to make things interesting.

We have been following the developments of the new law that passed earlier this year, requiring DPOR (the State's regulatory office in charge of licensing Pro Boxing & MMA) to approve Sanctioning Organizations to oversee all Amateur events in the State.

The law passed during the government's General Assembly, last February, and was to be effective today, October 1st.

As of yesterday, no sanctioning body had yet been approved. However, we received notice from DPOR today that two organizations - Global Combat Alliance & United Combat Arts - have been approved to sanction events statewide.

GCA, one of the largest and longest running sanctioning organizations, has been a staple of Amateur promotions across the state for years, including popular events like Spartyka, OO Fights/Cagezilla, and Fight Night Challenge, among many others.

UCA has primarily been used by the Wytheville, VA promotion, Titans of the Cage

With their newly approved status, Amateur promoters all across Virginia will be able to use them to oversee their shows.
